UAC School Shows, Workshops, & Residencies
Through the United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County Black Box leads 15-25 days/year of K-12 school workshops designed to integrate dance standards with other core curriculum areas, such as ELA, Math, History, Science, and P.E.
From geometry formulas to force and motion, the Revolutionary War, Marie Curie, and radium, we support embodying learning. In addition to workshops for students, Black Box frequently leads professional development workshops for educators.
NC Arts Council cARTwheels
NC Arts Council’s cARTwheels program provides high-quality stage performances and residency experiences to students, educators, and communities across the state.
cARTwheels engagements typically include:
A teacher workshop (required, two to three hours) to help teachers create entry ways for their students to the performance.
Live performances: two 50-minute, high-quality, age-appropriate performances that engage students’ imaginations. These performances will be presented at local performance venues.
Residency activities in schools and the community.
Study guides to introduce students to the performance. Guides include activities and resources that make curricular connections and facilitate extensions in the classroom.
Black Box Dance Theatre is supported by United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County as well as the N.C. Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural resources.
